How SOPAA Helped a Member Navigate Workers' Compensation
The workplace can be a dangerous environment, accidents can happen even in the safest of jobs. When an employee is injured on the job, they are entitled to workers' compensation to help them cover the costs of their medical expenses and lost wages.
But what happens when an employee is struggling to navigate the complicated world of workers' compensation?
This is the story of one of our SOPAA members who unfortunately found themselves trying to navigate the unknown while recovering from an injury.
They turned to SOPAA for assistance, and one of our case managers was assigned to their case.
Our team provided assistance to prepare the member for an upcoming workers' compensation meeting, giving them the necessary support to feel empowered and confident.
As a result of our collaboration, the member was able to speak articulately and had supporting documentation to validate their claims.
The meeting was a success, and the member was granted a slow integration back to full hours as recommended by their medical practitioners. They were pleased with the result and felt relieved knowing that they could take the time they needed to recover fully, and thankful for the support they received from SOPAA.
