FAQ's
About us
-
Why did SOPAA start?
To give a choice in representation. Police Officers, not the government nor your employer can now choose who represents and protects them.
-
Who can join?
All police officers' and correctional service officers' can join as members from anywhere in Australia.
-
What is a union really?
A union is a group of workers that collect resources for fights to protect members. The many for the few. A union should, beyond protecting individuals, negotiate wages and be prepared to act collectively. All Red Unions fulfill these definitions.
All Red Unions also satisfy definitions under International and Federal law. Heard we aren’t a real union? We wonder who would peddle untruths, perhaps those that have the most to lose. Unions that have taken members for granted.
